Speaking of angsty, grunge lip colors, we figured today would be a good day to post a tear from the Drew Barrymore spread in Pop’s 20th anniversary issue. Clad in various nineties staples including a surplus knit hat, a plaid flannel dress layered with an oversize sweater, and the requisite sneakers with tights, Drew reminds us of our own youth, when dark lips and even darker eyeliner flattered a nascent love for well-worn vintage hoodies (paired with hip-slung, baggy jeans, obviously). Makeup artist Gucci Westman chose CoverGirl to revive the style, which isn’t too far off from the mass brand tubes circa 1995 that we were putting in our pockets, er, purchasing, before leaving the Rite Aid in suburbia.
