ew Year’s Day is just around the corner and it is the perfect time to decide which of 2008’s trends to keep and which ones to throw away. Trends in cosmetics, skin care, dieting, exercising, fashion, and jewelry are always changing. While some of them may find their way onto the list of "classics" in the future, others will fall the way side as they well should. Here are my picks for the best and the worst hair and cosmetic trends this year.

HAIR TRENDS

Best hair color choice – Perfect 10 by Clariol. Cutting down the amount of processing time for hair color means healthier locks.

Worst hair color choice – Using at home products to lighten hair from black to blonde. Drastic changes should involve a professional colorist.

Best hair product choice – Ojon. This unique hair product comes from the rain forests of Central America; the land of the Tawira "people of beautiful hair." Ojon delivers healthier, shinier, and more luxurious hair.

Worst hair product choice – Stiff hair gels that glue the style into place; allowing no natural hair movement.

Best hair cut – The bob. Whether it is short or shoulder length, straight or asymmetrical, the bob cut looks sleek and sexy while allowing the hair natural movement.

Worst hair cut – The mullet. Yes, that’s right. Some people attempted to bring back the tacky hairstyle. Thankfully, it only lasted at 10 minutes.

Best hairstyle – None. 2008 was the year of hair. It was an anything goes year and people were better for it. Instead of worrying about getting the latest trendy style, people focused on what looked best on them. The result was a pretty good year for hair.

Worst hairstyle – The just got out of bed look. It is one thing to go for a natural looking style, but it is quite another to look like a brush hasn’t been used in 10 years.

BEST OVERALL HAIR TREND – Healthy hair. Any good cut and style will look better if the hair is in good shape to begin with.
